Pre-fire Chicago publication by Jevne & Almin, Chicago 1866, lithographic illustrations printed by the Chicago Lithographing Co. after drawings by Louis Kurz with literary description by James W. Sheahan, issued in (13) parts; comprising (46) tinted plates, mostly having accompanying text pages and having the front wrap of “Part 1” bound in; half-bound red morocco over moire patterned silk boards, gilt spine label, top edge gilt, marbled end papers and bearing the book plate of Stanley Field; references: Check list of Chicago ante-fire imprints #1047, Sabin #12623
