Naga Yoshi (Japanese, Koto 1400-1600) Katana Sword with Signed Michitoshi Tsuba

Shinogi zukuri blade having 27-inch cutting edge from kissaki to single-piece copper habaki and 35-inches from kissaki to nakagojiri, blade having a chu kissaki with notare hamon throughout including nioi and a medium turn-back at boshi; nakago having (2) mekugi ana with mei reading “Bishu (Bizen) Osafune ju Naga Yoshi”; koshirae having WWII IJA elements including leather over wood combat zone saya, tsuka having brown ito over single piece of same, including brown and blue officer’s tassel; fuchi, kashira and menuki all non-regulation style having dragons instead of cherry blossoms and fuchi retaining leather cover; signed round tsuba having floral motif including numerous shakudo highlights on both sides and (2) lines of text on each side of the nakago slit reading “Mito ju Michi Naga (Michi Toshi)”

Condition: Good, overall light to moderate wear consistent with age, materials and normal use; blade having areas of oxidation and discoloration without any deep pitted rust, light scuffs and scratches throughout with a 0.25-inch area on the edge having pen-tip sized nicks; area of exposed wood on far end of scabbard; wrapping on handle coming undone towards bottom
