Ames, Model 1832, having “N.P Ames Springfield” below eagle on outer side of ricasso and “United States 1839 WS” on opposite side; 19.25-inch double-edge spear-point blade having double fuller on lower portion with upper portion having single fuller; hilt and crossguard made of stamped brass including incised American eagle motif on each side; leather-covered sheath having seam on inner side with brass-wrapped tip and mouth
